...LOCAL GUSTY WINDS THIS EVENING NEAR FAIRBANKS...

LOCAL GUSTS TO 40 MPH ARE OCCURING IN THE MIDDLE TANANA VALLEY
THIS EVENING. EIELSON AIR FORCE BASES REPORTED A GUST TO 40 MPH
AT 538 PM TODAY AND RADAR INDICATES THESE STRONG WINDS ARE PASSING
THROUGH NORTH POLE AND FT WAINWRIGHT NOW. GUSTY WINDS COULD HIT
FAIRBANKS IN THE NEXT HOUR.

ISOLATED SHOWERS ARE PASSING THROUGH THE FAIRBANKS AREA THIS
EVENING. THESE SHOWERS HAVE VERY HIGH CLOUD BASES SO MOST OF THE
RAIN FALLING OUT OF THEM IS EVAPORATING BEFORE IT HITS THE GROUND.
THIS EVAPORATING RAIN COOLS THE AIR IT FALL INTO WHICH THEN FALLS
TO THE GROUND AS A DRY MICROBURST OF WIND AND CAUSES THESE GUSTY
WINDS AT THE SURFACE. THE STRONG WINDS WILL BE VERY LOCALIZED AND
SHOULD END BY 10 PM.
