REMNANTS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOPED AND PUSHED
SOUTH FROM NORTHERN ILLINOIS WILL DISSIPATE ACROSS PART OF THE
QUAD STATE REGION DURING THE MORNING HOURS. THE OUTFLOW FROM THESE
STORMS WILL SERVE TO FOCUS THE DEVELOPMENT OF MORE RAIN FURTHER
SOUTH DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS TODAY.

IN THE MEANTIME, THE OPPRESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY THAT HAS
COVERED THE QUAD STATE REGION THIS WEEK IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST
INTO THE WEEKEND. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF
WEST KENTUCKY. A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHWEST
INDIANA AND THE PENNYRILE REGION OF WEST KENTUCKY. BOTH OF THE
WARNING AND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT SUNDAY. HEAT
INDEX VALUES BETWEEN 100 AND 110 WILL BE COMMON ACROSS THE AREA
DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS.

RAIN CHANCES WILL ONCE AGAIN INCREASE IN COVERAGE OVER THE QUAD
STATE REGION EARLY NEXT WEEK.
