...WINTER STORM WATCH FOR BIG ISLAND SUMMITS ABOVE 12500 FEET...

.A trough aloft to our northwest will destabilize the atmosphere
and lift deep tropical moisture over the state over the next few
days. High elevations on the Big Island will have the potential to
receive heavy snow accumulations which will likely focus on Monday
night through Tuesday night.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE
TUESDAY NIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Winter
Storm Watch...which is in effect from Monday evening through late
Tuesday night.

* LOCATION...Big Island summits above 12500 feet elevation.

* HAZARD TYPE...Heavy snow

* ACCUMULATIONS...6 inches or more of snowfall possible.

* TIMING...Monday night through Tuesday night.

* IMPACTS...Poor visibility and slippery roads.

* WINDS...South 10 to 15 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...Less than 1/4 mile in clouds.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
