...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Small stream, creek and small river flooding caused by rain
  and snowmelt is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of DownEast, East Central, North Central, and
  Northern Maine, including the following counties, in DownEast
  Maine, Washington. In East Central Maine, Penobscot. In North
  Central Maine, Piscataquis. In Northern Maine, Aroostook.

* WHEN...Until 430 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1030 AM EDT, rain and snowmelt is occurring, and will
    cause minor flooding. This will cause small stream flooding.
    Rapid small river, creek and stream rises will cause minor
    flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen. Snowmelt of 0.5 to 1.5 inch or more has or
    will occur over the next several hours.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain plus snowmelt will result
    in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Lincoln, Bangor, Old Town, Howland, Danforth, Orono, Corinth,
    Milo, Veazie, Medway, Kenduskeag, Springfield, Licoln
    Township, Grand Falls, Lake View Plantation, Indian Island,
    Orneville, Wytopitlock, Reed Plantation and East Corinth.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
