...Data for Little Rock for the Winter Season 2019-2020...
.Summary...
Going by the averages, winter was warm...a little over two and a
half degrees above the 30-year mean. Rainfall initially was lacking
in December, but January and February made up for it. For snow
lovers, this was the second disappointing winter in a row, with no
measurable snowfall.
.Seasonal Temperatures...
The average high temperature was the warmest since 2016-2017. The
average low temperature was the warmest (or coolest) since last
winter, as they were exactly the same. The average seasonal
temperature was the warmest since 2016-2017.
There were 30 days with low temperatures at or below freezing, which
was the fewest since the winter of 2016-2017.
There were three days with high temperature at or above 70 degrees,
which was the fewest since 2014-2015.
.Seasonal Precipitation...
This was the third consecutive winter with above average rainfall.
Even so, though, it was the driest winter since 2016-2017, as the
previous two winters have been considerably wetter than this one. In
fact, this winter was the first one in three years where the
seasonal rainfall did not exceed 15 inches.
There were 36 days with measurable rainfall, which is exactly the
same amount as last winter (2018-2019), and above the seasonal
average of 28 days.
.Seasonal Snowfall...
This was the second consecutive winter with no measurable snow,
which amounts to 3.1 inches below the 30-year average.
That being said, though, trace amounts of sleet and snow fell during
December, January, and February. There were four days on which sleet
or snow fell, which is still a little below the seasonal average
(six).
