Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
357 AM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024

.DISCUSSION...There is an elevated fire danger on Monday. Minimum
relative humidity levels are expected to be in the 25 to 30 percent
range today and again on Monday. Westerly winds may gust as high as
20 mph today and southwest winds may gust as high as 30 mph Monday,
especially northwest of Interstate 57. Areas of frost will be
possible late tonight into Monday morning, outside of Chicago.

A lake breeze is expected across far northwest Indiana this
afternoon, shifting winds to the northeast. Its possible this lake
breeze may affect the Illinois shore of Lake Michigan as well, but
confidence is low.

Scattered showers are expected Monday night though Tuesday evening
along with the chance for a few thunderstorms, mainly on Tuesday.
Southwest winds may gust as high as 30 mph again on Tuesday. A cold
front will move across the area Tuesday night, shifting winds to
the northeast for Wednesday. An unsettled pattern is appearing
likely from Thursday night through next weekend with periods of
showers and possibly thunderstorms.
