Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
941 PM EDT Thu Mar 28 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...Lake Superior will remain between a weakening 29.8
inch low over Hudson Bay and 30.1 inch ridging to the southwest
through tonight. Friday, a 30.0 inch ridge builds over the lake
associated with a 30.2 inch high over the northern Canadian
Prairie provinces. Friday night, ridging weakens over the lake as
a 29.7 inch low approaches the southern portions of the Great
Lakes basin. As the low moves through southern Lake Michigan early
Saturday, an inverted 29.8 inch trough will move through Lake
Superior. 30.0 inch ridge will return Saturday night, then build
to 30.1 inches Sunday night. This ridge will remain over Lake
Superior late weekend into early next week. A deepening low
pressure system moving into the Lower Midwest sometime Monday
night thorough Tuesday will lead to height falls over Lake
Superior, but exact timing and track of this system remains
uncertain.
