BALTIMORE MD...BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL THURGOOD
MARSHALL AIRPORT...

THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS WELL ABOVE NORMAL. MONTHLY
PRECIPITATION WAS SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. SNOWFALL WAS WELL BELOW
NORMAL.

THIS WAS THE LEAST SNOWIEST JANUARY IN THE BALTIMORE MD AREA SINCE
1998. IT WAS ALSO THE WARMEST JANUARY SINCE 2006.

A RECORD DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 70 DEGREES WAS SET ON THE 12TH.
THIS TIED THE RECORD PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1890.

TWO RECORD DAILY WARM LOW TEMPERATURES WERE SET IN JANUARY. THE LOW
OF 49 DEGREES ON THE 12TH BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 46 SET IN 1890.
THE LOW OF 44 DEGREES ON THE 21ST TIED THE RECORD PREVIOUSLY SET IN
1932.

CLIMATE RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT AT BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL
THURGOOD MARSHALL AIRPORT SINCE 1950. ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE
RECORDS FOR THE BALTIMORE MD AREA EXTEND BACK TO JULY OF 1872.
PRECIPITATION RECORDS EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1871. SNOWFALL
RECORDS BEGAN IN MARCH OF 1892.
