...WARM TEMPERATURES AND VERY LITTLE PRECIPITATION...

ANOTHER WARM MONTH FOR THE ALASKAN PENINSULA AS HIGH MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES AVERAGED
35.5 FAHRENHEIT...EXCEEDING THE NORMAL JANUARY TEMPERATURE MAXIMUM OF 32.9F. LOW
MINIMUM TEMPERATURES AVERAGED 26.6 FAHRENHEIT...EXCEEDING THE NORMAL JANUARY
TEMPERATURE MINIMUM OF 23.6F. NO TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET THIS MONTH.

PRECIPITATION WAS BELOW NORMAL FOR JANUARY AS COLD BAY AIRPORT RECEIVED 1.41
INCHES...BELOW THE NORMAL JANUARY AVERAGE PRECIPITATION OF 3.16 INCHES. HOWEVER...
MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION FELL AS RAIN INSTEAD OF SNOW. ONLY 1.5 INCHES OF SNOW
WAS RECORDED...A VAST DEPARTURE FROM THE NORMAL JANUARY SNOWFALL AVERAGE OF 14.1
INCHES. INTERESTINGLY...NOT A SINGLE DAY IN THIS WINTER SEASON HAD MORE THAN AN
INCH OF SNOW DEPTH MEASURED ON THE GROUND.

FINALLY...COLD BAY AIRPORT EXPERIENCED 2 DAYS WITH WINDS EXCEEDING 50 MILES PER
HOUR WITH A MAXIMUM WIND SPEED OF 51 MPH FROM THE EAST ON 11 JANUARY AND A WIND
