FOR THE SIXTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH, LAST MONTH WAS ON THE WARM SIDE FOR
MARATHON. DECEMBER 2017 ENDED 1.4 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL, WITH AN
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 73.1 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. LOOKING BACK AT
2017, THE ANNUAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 80.4 DEGREES. THIS WAS 2.0
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL FOR THE YEAR.

FOLLOWING IN NOVEMBER`S FOOTSTEPS, DECEMBER ENDED THE MONTH WITH A
RAINFALL DEFICIT WHEN COMPARED TO NORMAL. WHILE 2017 ENDED WITH
31.61 INCHES OF RAINFALL, A DEFICIT OF 14.56 INCHES, IT IS IMPORTANT
TO NOTE THAT THIS VALUE IS MISSING SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL FROM
SEPTEMBER. THIS DATA LOSS WAS THE RESULT OF AN ASOS OUTAGE
ASSOCIATED WITH HURRICANE IRMA.

RECORDS ARE NOT YET TRACKED FOR THE MARATHON AREA DUE TO THE SHORT
PERIOD OF RECORD AT THE FLORIDA KEYS MARATHON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
THE PERIOD OF RECORD HERE ONLY DATES BACK TO 1998 AND ONLY TO 1999
FOR COMPLETE YEARLY RECORDS.
