RIVER FLOOD STATEMENT

...The flood warning continues for the following rivers...Guyandotte River...Tug
Fork River.
  At Branchland...
  At Williamson...
  At Kermit...

Affecting the following counties in Kentucky...Lawrence...Martin...Pike and in
West Virginia...Cabell...Lincoln...Mingo...Wayne.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around and don`t drown.  Do not drive into areas where
water is flowing over the roadway.  Most deaths occur when motorists
try crossing flooded roads.

Please report high water to the National Weather Service by
calling toll free...1-800-401-9535...when you can do so safely.

...Flood Warning extended until Friday afternoon...The Flood Warning continues
for
  the Tug Fork River At Williamson.
* AT  7:00 AM Thursday the stage WAS 38.1 feet.
* Moderate Flooding is occurring and Moderate Flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* Forecast...the River will continue rising to near 40.3 feet by this afternoon.
  The river will fall below flood stage Friday morning.
* A crest near 40.3 feet compares to a previous crest of 40.7 feet on May 10
  2009.

  the Tug Fork River At Kermit.
* AT  4:15 AM Thursday the stage WAS 39.4 feet.
* Minor Flooding is occurring and Moderate Flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 38.0 feet.
* Forecast...the River will continue rising to near 46.7 feet by this evening.
  The river will fall below flood stage early afternoon Friday .
* At stages near 46.0 feet...Businesses south of rte 40(Virginia street) on
  Wayne and Cabell streets affected.
* A crest near 46.7 feet compares to a previous crest of 46.3 feet on February 17
  2003.

  the Guyandotte River At Branchland.
* AT  6:30 AM Thursday the stage WAS 33.1 feet.
* Minor Flooding is occurring and Minor Flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 30.0 feet.
* Forecast...the River will continue rising to near 33.8 feet by this afternoon.
  The river will fall below flood stage tonight.
* A crest near 33.8 feet compares to a previous crest of 34.3 feet on April 16
  2007.
