FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
358 AM CST WED MAR 4 2015

.DISCUSSION...
MILD CONDITIONS WITH A GOOD CHANCE OF SHOWERS IS IN THE
FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA TODAY...AS A SOUTHERLY FLOW
BRINGS MOISTURE ACROSS THE REGION. THIS WARMTH WILL BE
SHORT-LIVED...AS ANOTHER STRONG COLD FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE
REGION. THE FRONT SHOULD REACH FAR NORTHWEST ALABAMA AROUND
NOON...AND PROGRESS ACROSS THE GREATER HUNTSVILLE AREA IN THE
LATE AFTERNOON...AND BE SOUTHEAST OF FT PAYNE AROUND 9 PM.

MUCH COLDER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED DURING THE COURSE OF
TONIGHT AND THURSDAY...AS ARCTIC AIR SPILLS IN FROM THE
NORTHWEST. TEMPERATURES SHOULD REACH FREEZING AFTER MIDNIGHT
ACROSS NORTHWEST ALABAMA...WITH BELOW FREEZING CONDITIONS
EXPECTED AREAWIDE BY DAYBREAK THURSDAY. THUS RAIN FALLING
AFTER THE FRONT PASSES WILL BECOME A MIXTURE OF FREEZING
RAIN...RAIN...AND SLEET DURING THE OVERNIGHT AND THURSDAY
MORNING. THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD END AS LIGHT SNOW BY
THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THE COLDER AIR PLUS ON-GOING
PRECIPITATION HAS PROMPTED THE ISSUANCE OF A WINTER STORM
WATCH FOR ALL OF NORTHERN ALABAMA NEAR/WEST OF INTERSTATE
65. ICE ACCUMULATIONS STILL LOOK POSSIBLE ON SURFACES NEAR
AND ABOVE GROUND LEVEL.

MOSTLY GENERALLY GOOD SMOKE DISPERSION RATES ARE FORECAST...
AS TRANSPORT WINDS REMAIN AROUND 20 MPH FOR THE NEXT DAY.
