Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
254 PM CDT Fri Apr 28 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Breezy southerly winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph
this afternoon and tonight will become southeasterly on Saturday
gusts will weaken to around 25 mph. Isolated thunderstorms
will be possible north of the Tennessee River and west of I-65
both this afternoon and Saturday afternoon. Some storms could be
strong producing small hail and gusty winds to 50 mph.

Even stronger and more southerly winds are expected on Sunday
ahead of an approaching cold front. Windy conditions should again
develop with sustained winds between 10 and 20 mph with gusts to
30 mph. Showers and thunderstorms ahead of this system should hold
off until the evening hours before poshing east into Georgia by
Monday morning. Moist southerly flow will keep relative humidity
values high through Sunday. Strong transport winds and high mixing
heights will allow for good dispersion index values, but higher
fire spread potential. Some of these storms could be strong to
severe producing damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a few
short-lived tornadoes.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy fog may be possible
near large bodies of water, but it is not expected to be widespread.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Red Flag conditions are not
expected due to high relative humidity values.
