FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
428 AM CDT WED AUG 27 2014

.DISCUSSION...
AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL SHIFT SOUTHEASTWARD
ACROSS NORTHERN ALABAMA AND INTO THE WESTERN NORTH ATLANTIC FROM
TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY...PROVIDING A CONTINUATION OF DRY WEATHER
CONDITIONS AND SEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES. A LIGHT NORTHEAST
FLOW AT THE SURFACE WILL MAINTAIN THE DRY LOW-LEVEL AIRMASS...WITH
AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES FALLING INTO THE 30-35 PERCENT
RANGE FOR PORTIONS OF THE AREA ON THURSDAY/FRIDAY. DISPERSION
VALUES TODAY WILL RANGE FROM GENERALLY GOOD WEST...TO FAIR EAST
WHERE MIXING HEIGHTS WILL BE SLIGHTLY LOWER. HOWEVER...DISPERSION
WILL BE WORSE FOR ALL AREAS FRIDAY AS TRANSPORT FLOW DECREASES TO
LESS THAN 5 MPH. WINDS WILL INCREASE FROM THE SOUTH-SOUTHWEST BY
LATE FRIDAY...ALLOWING ABUNDANT MOISTURE TO SPREAD NORTHWARD THIS
WEEKEND. THIS MOISTURE WILL INTERACT WITH AN APPROACHING UPPER
DISTURBANCE TO BRING A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN SHOWER/THUNDERSTORM
ACTIVITY ON SATURDAY-SUNDAY...BEFORE RAIN CHANCES DIMINISH ONCE
AGAIN EARLY NEXT WEEK.
