Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
224 PM PDT Fri Aug 18 2017

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...Near-normal temperatures and humidities
continue for the next several days across the region. Terrain-
driven winds will give way to west/northwest winds each afternoon
and evening. A deeper marine push arrives early Saturday for
better overnight humidity recoveries. Then, drier conditions
return into next week, but with the potential for afternoon
thunderstorms near the Cascade crest Wednesday.

.DISCUSSION...Weak to moderate onshore flow will continue for most
of the Pacific Northwest through the next 7 days. During
the afternoon and evenings, isolated gusty winds are expected in
coast range gaps and the Columbia River Gorge as onshore flow
strengthens. A weak cold front will moves across the region
tonight night into Saturday, deepening the marine layer for
excellent humidity recoveries across most of the region. Warmer
and drier conditions return early next week as an upper level
ridge redevelops across the region. Haines 5 conditions may
develop again Monday for zone 608 as instability again increases
with high There will be some potential for thunderstorms near
the Cascade crest by Wednesday as mid-level moisture increases,
especially in 608. Cullen
