FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
229 PM PDT SUN AUG 28 2016

...MILD AGAIN ON MONDAY...THEN A CHANGE TO COOLER AND SHOWERY
WEATHER...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...SEASONABLE WEATHER CONTINUES INTO MONDAY.
THEN CHANGES ON TUESDAY AS LOW PRESSURE APPROACHES FROM THE GULF
OF ALASKA. THIS LOW WILL BRING DECENT ONSHORE FLOW..COOLER
TEMPERATURES AND HIGHER HUMIDITY..ALONG WITH SOME THREAT OF
PRECIPITATION. AT THIS TIME...WETTING RAINS ARE NOT EXPECTED.

.DISCUSSION...WEATHER PATTERN RATHER BENIGN INTO MONDAY AS HIGH
PRESSURE REMAINS IN CONTROL. THIS WILL KEEP RATHER PERSISTENT
PATTERN...WITH MILD AND DRY WEATHER. WILL SEE MARINE CLOUDS
PERSIST ALONG THE COAST INTO THE COAST MOUNTAINS...WITH PLENTY OF
SUNSHINE INLAND. LIGHT TO MODERATE ONSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL
KEEP EAST SLOPES AND HIGHER RIDGES OF THE CASCADES AS WELL AS THE
COLUMBIA GORGE UNDER BREEZY WESTERLY WINDS IN AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS.

UPPER LOW PRESSURE WILL APPROACH THE REGION ON TUESDAY. FLOW ALOFT
WILL TURN MORE SOUTHWESTERLY. AT THE SAME TIME...AN UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE CURRENTLY WELL OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST WILL DRIFT
NORTHEAST ACROSS NW CALIFORNIA AND SOUTHERN OREGON. AS SUCH...WILL
SEE A FEW THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP OVER SOUTH OREGON CASCADES AND
EASTWARD. WILL KEEP A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AS FAR NORTH
AS MT JEFFERSON OR MT HOOD...AS STILL MAY HAVE SOME WIGGLE SPACE
ON THE MODELS AS TO THE DISTURBANCE`S FINAL TRACK.

A DECENT FRONT WILL PUSH ACROSS THE REGION ON WEDNESDAY...WITH
LOTS OF CLOUDS AND SOME MORNING SHOWERS. MOISTURE LIKELY TO BE
RAIN THAN SHOWERS OVER THE COAST AND COAST RANGES.

AFTERWARDS...COOL AND UNSETTLED WEATHER WILL CONTINUE THROUGH
FRIDAY. LONGER RANGE INDICATES DRY AND MILD FOR SATURDAY INTO
SUNDAY. BUT SOME HINT THAT A FRONT WILL BRING WIDESPREAD WETTING
RAIN TO THE REGION LATER IN THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. FCSTR...ROCKEY.
