...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER CONDITIONS EXPECTED TODAY ACROSS MUCH OF
SOUTH TEXAS...

A DRY AIR MASS REMAINS IN PLACE OVER SOUTH TEXAS WITH AFTERNOON
RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES RANGING FROM 15 TO 25 PERCENT ACROSS
INLAND COUNTIES AND 25 TO 40 PERCENT ACROSS COASTAL COUNTIES TODAY.
SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 20 MPH LATE THIS MORNING INTO
THE EARLY AFTERNOON WITH GUSTS UP TO 24 MPH. THIS COMBINED WITH
LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL RESULT IN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER
CONDITIONS TODAY.

AFFECTED RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CARE WITH RESPECT TO ALL
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE WILDFIRES. AVOID
THE USE OF WELDING OR GRINDING EQUIPMENT NEAR WEEDS...GRASS AND
DRY BRUSH. IN ADDITION...AVOID PARKING VEHICLES IN TALL...DRY
GRASS AND WEEDS THAT COULD BE IGNITED. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS
ON THE GROUND. REPORT WILDFIRES QUICKLY TO THE NEAREST FIRE
DEPARTMENT OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.
