DAILY RIVER AND LAKE SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
1227 PM EST Tue Dec 12 2017

Low pressure from western New York state will head east and approach
our region today. This will will bring a wintry mix of snow and
freezing rain across interior areas before changing to rain from
south to north into this afternoon. Rain will be predominant over
the coastal plain.

The low will head northeast toward southern Quebec tonight. It will
turn brisk and cold behind an arctic front and widely scattered snow
squalls are possible.

Arctic air settles across the region on Wednesday and Thursday with
a period of strong westerly winds and bitterly cold wind chills.
Meanwhile, low pressure scooting offshore of the mid Atlantic states
on Thursday may bring some scattered snow showers along the
immediate south coast and islands.

Water equivalent rainfall today should average 0.25 to 0.60 inches.
With this amount of liquid equivalency, area main stem river levels
will remain nearly stationary or show only slight rises over the
next 24 to 48 hours.

These forecasts include 24 hour precipitation for the period ending
at 7 am today, and forecast precipitation through 7 am tomorrow.
