THE CENTRAL WILLAMETTE VALLEY...

.VALLEY TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN AT OR BELOW FREEZING
TODAY AS A PACIFIC FRONTAL SYSTEM SPREADS RAIN ACROSS THE REGION
TODAY. THERE WILL LIKELY BE SEVERAL HOURS OF RAIN BEFORE WARM
AIR ALOFT CAN WORK ITS WAY DOWN TO THE VALLEY FLOORS...LEADING TO

EVENING.

* TIMING...OCCASIONAL LIGHT FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE
  EARLY AFTERNOON...THEN EXPECT HEAVIER PRECIPITATION TO SPREAD
  INTO THE AREA IN THE LATTER HALF OF THE AFTERNOON AND INTO
  TONIGHT. THE HEAVIER PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY FALL AS FREEZING
  RAIN OVER MUCH OF THE METRO AREA THIS EVENING.

* TEMPERATURES....GENERALLY FROM 25 TO 30 THIS MORNING.
  TEMPERATURES OVER THE WESTERN METRO AREA INCLUDING DOWNTOWN ARE
  EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVE FREEZING LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. AREAS
  OVER THE EASTERN PART OF THE METRO AREA...FROM THE AIRPORT AREA
  EASTWARD...WILL REMAIN NEAR OR JUST BELOW FREEZING THROUGH THE
  EVENING BEFORE WARMING ABOVE FREEZING LATE TONIGHT. OVER THE FAR
  EAST METRO AREA NEAR TROUTDALE AND WASHOUGAL IT IS POSSIBLE THAT
  TEMPERATURES WILL NOT WARM ABOVE FREEZING UNTIL LATE TONIGHT OR
  EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...RANGING FROM AS LITTLE AS A TENTH TO A
  QUARTER OF AN INCH IN THE WEST METRO AREA...TO A QUARTER TO A
  HALF OF AN INCH ACROSS MUCH OF THE EASTERN METRO AREA. HEAVIEST
  ACCUMULATIONS ARE LIKELY NEAR THE MOUTH OF THE GORGE AROUND
  TROUTDALE AND WASHOUGAL WHERE UP TO AN INCH OF ICE IS POSSIBLE.

* IMPACTS...ICE ACCUMULATION ON TREES AND POWER LINES MAY RESULT
  IN DOWNED BRANCHES AND LINES...WHICH WOULD BRING THE THREAT OF
  POWER OUTAGES THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. ICING WILL MAKE
  TRAVEL TREACHEROUS ON UNTREATED ROADS AND WALKWAYS.

  LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT PRECIPITATION WILL INCREASE AND BECOME
  HEAVY AT TIMES.

* LOCATIONS...PRIMARILY THE SOUTHERN AND EASTERN VALLEYS OF THE
  SOUTH WASHINGTON CASCADES INCLUDING THE WIND RIVER VALLEY.

  ACCUMULATION THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. AS PRECIPITATION
