Fire Weather Planning Forecast for northern Lower Michigan
National Weather Service Gaylord MI
449 AM EDT Fri Apr 26 2024

...Elevated Fire Danger this afternoon and early evening...

.DISCUSSION...Elevated fire danger will be in place across interior northern
Michigan again this afternoon into early this evening. Winds will
continue to increase out of the southeast today, reaching sustained
wind speeds between 10-15 mph with gusts to 20-25 mph today. Sunny
skies for most of today will promote efficient daytime mixing,
resulting in critical RHs between 20-25 percent as early as noon and
potentially lasting until 7 PM. Shortest time window for critical
RHs is expected east of I-75, with longest period of critical RHs
anticipated across areas along and west of US-131. RHs mixing into
the upper teens will be possible for a few hours during mid
afternoon. Chances for showers and thunderstorms returns tonight,
and multiple rounds of chances are anticipated through this weekend
into early next week -- likely bringing at least some relief to very
dry fine fuels.
