HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAND FORKS ND
306 PM CDT FRI JUN 13 2014

...EXCESSIVE RAINS AGAIN POSSIBLE IN PORTIONS OF THE REGION THIS WEEKEND...

AN UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE
WEEKEND...WITH THE RISK FOR ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAIN FALL. WIDELY
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL SLOWLY INCREASE OVERNIGHT
BECOMING MORE NUMEROUS SATURDAY MORNING. THE HEAVIEST RAIN FALL IS
FORECAST TO FALL OVER THE SOUTHERN RED RIVER VALLEY INTO THE LAKES
COUNTY OF WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA. AREAS FROM FERGUS FALLS TO
WADENA NORTHWARD THROUGH BEMIDJI TO THE LAKE OF WOODS REGION
RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT RAINS THIS PAST WEEK...RESULTING IN LOCALIZED
FLOODING AND SOME RISES ON AREA RIVERS.

AS THE STORM SYSTEM MOVES INTO EASTERN MINNESOTA SUNDAY
ADDITIONAL MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINS MAY FALL OVER PORTIONS OF THE
RED LAKES BASIN AND FAR UPPER REACHES OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER
DRAINAGE BASIN. A WIDESPREAD ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN MAY FALL
OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS...WITH ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.
THESE AREAS HAVE EXPERIENCED BETWEEN 2 TO 4 TIMES ABOVE NORMAL
RAINFALL OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS. AS A RESULT EVEN THE SANDY
SOILS IN THE REGION ARE SATURATED AS WATER TABLES ARE HIGH.
ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAIN MAY PRODUCE SIMILAR RESULTS AS THE
PREVIOUS HEAVY RAINFALL EVENT DID WITH RAPID RISES ON AREA
RIVERS...CREEKS AND DITCHES CAUSING A FEW COUNTY ROADS AND SOME
DRIVEWAYS TO BE WASHED OUT OR CLOSED.
