...EF1 TORNADO CONFIRMED BY NWS DAMAGE SURVEY NEAR MILTON ND IN
SOUTHEAST CAVALIER COUNTY...

RATING:  EF-1 ESTIMATED PEAK WIND: 90 MPH PATH LENGTH:  1 MILE PATH
WIDTH: 120 YARDS

START/END TIME: 402 PM CDT - 404 PM CDT

SURVEY SUMMARY: RESULTS FROM THE NWS DAMAGE ASSESSMENT INDICATED AN
EF1 TORNADO OCCURRED SATURDAY AFTERNOON FROM ROUGHLY ONE HALF MILE
WEST OF MILTON THROUGH ONE HALF MILE SOUTH OF MILTON. THERE WAS
MINOR TREE DAMAGE EARLY ON WITH THE TORNADO INTENSIFYING OVER THE
GRAIN TRAIN LOADING AREA LOCATED AT THE SOUTH END OF MILTON. THE
TORNADO BLEW OVER 8 OF THE EMPTY GRAIN CARS WHICH WERE CONNECTED TO
THE MUCH LONGER TRAIN. THE TORNADO AND ITS ASSOCIATED DUST PLUME
WERE VISIBLE FROM MILES AROUND AND IT WAS FILMED BY A SPOTTER
LOCATED NEAR OSNABROCK... ABOUT 5 WNW OF MILTON.

TORNADOES INTO THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
EF5...VIOLENT...>200 MPH
