...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...

A least 5 distinct tornado touchdowns were observed and reported
across Grand Forks and Traill Counties, in eastcentral North
Dakota, on Wednesday afternoon, June 7th.

A storm damage survey team has reviewed two of the five suspected
locations and so far has reported only EF0 scale damages,
indicating peak wind speeds generally less than 80 miles and
hour. Additional storm damage surveys will be conducted on
Thursday.

These were quick spin-up tornadoes which formed under a cold-core
low pressure system which passed across northeast ND and into
northwest MN through the course of the afternoon. The storms
which formed were generally of the mini-supercell variety and
produced mainly brief heavy rain and occasional small hail or
moderate gusty winds.
