...SNOW MELT CONTRIBUTING TO RIVER LEVEL RISES ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
RED RIVER VALLEY...

The recent string of above average temperatures has resulted in
most of the snow cover disappearing over much of the southern half
of the Red River Valley. Due to this decrease in snow cover, some
locations across the Red River Valley are beginning to depict a
response in river levels, in addition to some water running or
remaining frozen in the soil, field tiles, and ditches.

Several forecast points along the southern half of the Red River
Valley, in addition to its North Dakota and Minnesota tributaries,
are expected to reach or exceed action stage in the coming days.
Some points may even reach flood stage briefly as the threat of
precipitation returns to start the new work week. However, note
that there continues to be a high level of uncertainty regarding
the precipitation forecast and how much of this water will flow
into the river system as temperatures remain mild through midweek.

This high water notice includes forecasts for...

Red River at Fargo, East Grand Forks, and Oslo
  South Buffalo River at Sabin
Buffalo River at Hawley and Dilworth
Wild Rice River (MN) at Hendrum
  Red Lake River at Crookston
  Maple River at Mapleton
  Goose River at Hillsboro
  Forest River at Minto
  Park River at Grafton

A high water notice is issued when river levels are high but are
expected to more than likely remain below flood stage for the forecast
period. As more data becomes available, conditions will continue to be
evaluated for any updates to the possibility of reaching or exceeding
flood stage.

Safety message...turn around, don`t drown...

 - Don`t travel through flooded areas!

 - Persons living in the Red River Basin should monitor river
levels while the river is in, or near, flood.
