...TEST TORNADO DRILLS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...

The State of Minnesota is conducting test tornado drills today at
1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. The drills are jointly provided by the
Minnesota Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management,
the National Weather Service, and numerous counties, cities, and
tribal nations. Remember that these drills are a test.

Severe weather is often preceded by a watch, and that is why we are
now reminding you of the two drills that will take place later today
at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

A watch is an important time to plan for where you would take
shelter. A watch is also a good reminder to make sure you have at
least two ways to receive a warning. Outdoor Warning Sirens are not
enough and may not always activate or be heard. Get a NOAA Weather
Radio. If available, sign up for warning notices through your local
county or city.

The drills today are part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in
Minnesota. Remember they are just a test, to remind you of what you
should do if there was a real warning. For more information, check
out our website weather.gov/siouxfalls, or our social media pages.
