...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Nuisance flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Mud Creek in central Henderson County, North Carolina

* WHEN...Until 400 AM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to Mud
  Creek, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas,
  and golf courses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 943 PM EDT, A Flood Advisory remains in effect due to
    previous heavy rainfall within the Mud Creek watershed near
    Hendersonville.  Out-of-bank conditions continue along Mud
    Creek, causing adjacent nuisance flooding of low-lying areas.
    The Flood Advisory will remain in effect until the creek
    falls below Action/Advisory Stage and no longer poses a flood
    threat.

    ACTION/ADVISORY STAGE: 11.5 feet
    MINOR FLOOD STAGE: 14.0 feet
    CREST: 12.66 feet on May 9th at 3:30 PM
    TREND: Falling Steadily

    ESTIMATED FORECAST: Mud Creek has crested and will continue
    to fall through the overnight hours.  Mud Creek is expected
    to fall below Action/Advisory Stage by 4 AM.

    IMPACTS: At 11.5 feet, common, nuisance flooding of low-lying
    areas adjacent to Mud Creek is beginning. The lowest
    elevations of William H King Memorial Park are beginning to
    flood and floodwaters are approaching the lowest elevations
    of the Oklawaha Greenway.  At this stage, more expansive
    lowland flooding with nuisance impacts to adjacent farmland,
    golf courses, and nurseries is ongoing or has recently
    occurred upstream closer to Erkwood Dr.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
