...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Major severity for the
following rivers in Texas...

  Bedias Creek near Madisonville affecting Madison and Walker
  Counties.

For the Bedias Creek...including Madisonville...Major flooding is
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Bedias Creek near Madisonville.

* WHEN...Until Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Major lowland flooding begins with
  widespread inundation of the flood plain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:45 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.7 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 16.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 8:45 PM CDT Thursday was 23.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Saturday morning and continue falling to 11.1 feet Tuesday
    evening.
  - Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    23.5 feet on 05/14/1982.
