.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1035 AM EDT Tue Mar 12 2024
Another quiet morning for the Florida Keys today. CIMSS mean
steering layer for 250 to 850 mb notes a zonal westerly flow over
the state of Florida after deep layer ridging in the Caribbean
shifted southeast. Our morning balloon sounding agrees with this
wind profile but also shows a classic post-frontal decoupling of
winds below 900 mb. These easterly breezes in the lower levels are
due to a surface high in the western North Atlantic extending its
western periphery across the island chain. The sounding also
observed a PW of 1.13 inches which happens to exactly match the
daily mean. Despite decent low level moisture, partly cloudy skies
prevail across the Keys with greater vertical development stunted
by an inversion and dry spike of air around 900 mb. Temperatures
across the island chain have slid a degree or two higher from this
morning`s mid 70s with dewpoints lingering in the mid 60s. Breezes
along the reef have slackened a touch as they near a true easterly
direction. Current forecast looks to be on track as a stable and
warming environment prevails.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1035 AM EDT Tue Mar 12 2024
There are currently no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect
across the Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, high
pressure over the southeastern United States will drive east
southeastwards into the Atlantic over the next couple of days.
Moderate easterly breezes will veer slightly and weaken through
this period. This high will meander northeast of the Bahamas
through the remainder of the week, generally keeping gentle to
moderate east to southeasterly breezes. The highs trade wind belt
will lift northward through the back half of the week resulting in
modestly freshening breezes.
