.DISCUSSION...
Warmer conditions expected Thursday and Friday with a shallower
marine layer. Low clouds and fog are expected along the coast,
locally into portions of the valleys. The onshore pressure
gradient will increase over the weekend, bringing more widespread
cloud coverage; cooler conditions; gusty westerly winds in the
mountains and deserts; and chances of rain in and west of the
mountains. There is still some uncertainty in the strength of the
winds but there is 30-40 percent chance of wind gusts between
40-60 mph, with a 20 percent chance of gusts exceeding 60 mph. The
most likely place for gusts to exceed 60 mph are through passes
and canyons, like the San Gorgonio Pass. There is a slight chance
of mostly light precipitation from the coast to the mountains for
late Saturday night into Sunday. There is a 10-30 percent chance
of wetting rain for the coast and valleys, with a 40-60 percent
chance of wetting rain in the mountains. Drier and warmer for
Monday and Tuesday, but highs Tuesday will still be below average.
