THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS SLIGHTLY BELOW NORMAL. MONTHLY
PRECIPITATION WAS ABOVE NORMAL.

THIS WAS THE FIRST COOLER THAN NORMAL MONTH SINCE MAY OF 2016,
BREAKING A STREAK OF 11 CONSECUTIVE NEAR TO WARMER THAN NORMAL
MONTHS.

THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 93 ON THE 19TH WAS THE WARMEST MAY
TEMPERATURE SINCE THE 31ST IN 2011 WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 98
DEGREES.

CLIMATE RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT AT RONALD REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL
AIRPORT SINCE AUGUST OF 1941. ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE
WASHINGTON DC AREA OBSERVED DOWNTOWN EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1872.
PRECIPITATION RECORDS EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1871. SNOWFALL
RECORDS BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 1884.
