...MAY WAS WETTER AND SLIGHTLY COOLER THAN NORMAL IN OMAHA...

WITH AN UNUSUALLY HIGH NUMBER OF WET DAYS IN MAY...THE TOTAL
PRECIPITATION WAS THE 32ND WETTEST ON RECORD FOR OMAHA AT 5.34
INCHES.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 61.6 DEGREES WAS 0.7 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL.

THE MONTH BEGAN ON THE WARM AND WET SIDE...WITH THUNDERSTORMS
PRODUCING MEASURABLE RAIN ON 5 OF THE FIRST 7 DAYS OF THE MONTH AND
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES ON EACH DAY.  OMAHA DID NOT RECEIVE QUITE
THE DELUGE ON THE 6TH-7TH AS AREAS FURTHER TO THE SOUTHWEST...BUT
EPPLEY DID RECORD 2.51 INCHES OF RAIN DURING THAT EVENT.
THUNDERSTORMS STRUCK AGAIN ON MOTHERS DAY (THE 10TH)...WITH WINDS
GUSTING UP TO 58 MPH AT EPPLEY AIRFIELD DURING SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
IN THE AFTERNOON.

RAIN FELL ON 13 OF THE 17 DAYS FROM THE 13TH THROUGH THE 29TH...WITH
NO MORE THAN ONE DRY DAY AT A TIME IN THAT STRETCH.  IT ALSO WAS A
PERIOD WITH MAINLY BELOW-NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND A FEW BRIEF WARM-
UPS.  THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH...AT 84
DEGREES...OCCURRED ON THE 27TH AND WAS THE 13TH COOLEST WARMEST-MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE IN MAY ON RECORD.  MAY ENDED IN THE MIDST OF A COOL BUT
RELATIVELY DRY SPELL.  OVERALL...THERE WERE NO MORE THAN TWO
CONSECUTIVE DAYS WITHOUT MEASURABLE RAIN IN MAY.

FOR THE SPRING MONTHS OF MARCH-APRIL-MAY...OMAHA WAS SLIGHTLY WARMER
AND SLIGHTLY WETTER THAN NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 53.2
DEGREES WAS THE 33RD WARMEST AND WAS 2.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE
TOTAL PRECIPITATION OF 9.55 INCHES WAS 0.16 INCHES BELOW NORMAL AND
THE 47TH WETTEST.
