...JANUARY WAS WETTER AND SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL IN OMAHA...

THE JANUARY TOTAL PRECIPITATION OF 1.11 INCHES WAS THE 29TH HIGHEST
ON RECORD...WITH 6.9 INCHES OF SNOW THAT IS 0.8 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL.
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 24.3 DEGREES WAS 0.8 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL...WITH NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF SUSTAINED TEMPERATURE SWINGS
TOWARD EITHER WARM OR COLD CONDITIONS.

THE MONTH BEGAN WITH MOSTLY ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES...ALONG WITH A
FEW WET DAYS ON THE 6TH TO 8TH.  PRECIPITATION TOTALED 0.71 INCHES
FOR THE THREE DAYS...WITH 1.6 INCHES OF SNOW ON TWO OF THOSE DAYS.
THAT WAS FOLLOWED BY A BRIEF DIP TO BELOW-NORMAL
TEMPERATURES...INCLUDING THE COLDEST READING OF THE MONTH AT -6
DEGREES ON THE 10TH.  LIGHT SNOW AND A BRIEF WARM-UP FOLLOWED AS
TEMPERATURES REACHED THE 40S...FOLLOWED BY A MORE SUSTAINED COLD
STREAK FROM THE 16TH TO THE 22ND...WITH THE LOWEST HIGH TEMPERATURE
OF THE MONTH AT 7 DEGREES ON THE 17TH.  ON THE 19TH...4.1 INCHES OF
SNOW FELL...WHICH WAS THE LARGEST SINGLE SNOWFALL EVENT OF THE
MONTH. LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE ALSO FELL ON THE 23RD. THE MONTH ENDED
ON A WARM STREAK...WITH ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES ON THE 24TH TO
31ST. FREEZING DRIZZLE AND LIGHT SNOW FELL ON THE 25TH...BUT
OTHERWISE THE LAST WEEK OF THE MONTH WAS DRY.
