...JULY WAS WETTER AND SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL IN OMAHA...

AFTER A DRY JUNE...MUCH-NEEDED RAINS ARRIVED IN JULY. THE 6.61
INCHES OF RAIN WAS 2.78 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL AND THE 22ND WETTEST
JULY ON RECORD. THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE OF 77.8 DEGRES WAS
1.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...FALLING IN THE NEAR-NORMAL RANGE.

JULY GOT OFF TO A COOL START...WITH THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE OF THE
MONTH ON THE 1ST AT 55 DEGREES AND THE LOWEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF
THE MONTH ON THE 2ND AT 71 DEGREES.  A COOL 1.23 INCHES OF RAIN FELL
ON THE 2ND...WITH NO THUNDER. CONDITIONS TURNED WARMER FROM THE 5TH
THROUGH THE 14TH...WITH TEMPERATURES NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL AND
PERIODIC RAIN AND THUNDER. STORMS ON THE 7TH WERE ACCOMPANIED BY
WINDS GUSTING UP TO 51 MPH...AND HALF-INCH HAIL WAS RECORDED ON THE
13TH. THE 1.59 INCHES OF RAIN ON THE 11TH WAS A DAILY RECORD FOR
PRECIPITATION.  TEMPERATURES FELL BELOW NORMAL ON THE 15TH TO
16TH...WITH A RETURN TO WARMER WEATHER AND THREE DAYS OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS ON THE 17TH TO 19TH.

A HEAT WAVE BROUGHT MUCH ABOVE-NORMAL TEMPERATURES ON THE 20TH TO
23RD.  TEMPERATURES SET NO RECORDS...BUT THE HIGHS IN THE MID TO
UPPER 90S AND LOWS IN THE MID 70S TO LOWER 80S WERE THE WARMEST OF
THE MONTH AND WERE ACCOMPANIED BY HUMID CONDITIONS AND HEAT INDICES
IN THE 110S. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE OF THE MONTH...98
DEGREES...OCCURRED ON THE 21ST...WHILE THE WARMEST LOW TEMPERATURE
OF THE MONTH...82 DEGREES...OCCURRED ON THE 23RD. HEAT BROKE ON THE
23RD...WITH A LIGHT RAIN...AND TEMPERATURES RETURNED TO READINGS
WITHIN A FEW DEGREES OF NORMAL FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH.  ANOTHER
0.01 INCHES OF RAIN FELL ON THE 31ST...BUT OTHERWISE...THE PERIOD
FROM THE 20TH TO THE 31ST WAS RATHER DRY.
