The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
  Shelby County in Alabama...

* Until 600 PM CDT

* At 353 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
  urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to one
  inch of rain has already fallen in a few spots. Additional heavy
  rain is possible in the next few hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Birmingham, Hoover, Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Leeds, Calera,
  Chelsea, Montevallo, Columbiana, Indian Springs Village, Vincent,
  Harpersville, Westover, American Village, Oak Mountain State Park,
  Vandiver, Maylene, Oak Mountain Amphitheater and Greystone.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.
