Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
152 PM CST Fri Jan 19 2018

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure will maintain its hold on the weather pattern
across the TN Valley through at least the first part of the
weekend. Southerly flow at the surface will filter in moisture
and warmer temperatures. This increase in moisture will help RH
values remain well above critical thresholds on Saturday, with
minimum RHs in the 45 to 50 percent range. Mixing heights will be
relatively low on Saturday and only rise to between 1000 and 1500
feet. Meanwhile, transport winds will remain from the south
between 10 and 15 mph. This will create generally poor dispersion
conditions across the region. By Sunday, skies will clear a bit,
while high pressure builds aloft. Mixing heights will rise to
between 2500 and 3000 feet by Sunday afternoon and combine with
southerly transport winds between 15 and 20 mph to create
generally good dispersion on Sunday. An upper level disturbance
will approach the area late Sunday night and bring a cold front
through the region on Monday. This will bring a chance for
widespread wetting rains, with rain chances tapering off Monday
night. Along with the widespread showers, isolated thunderstorms
are also possible. Rainfall totals will generally be less than an
inch, with locally higher amounts possible.

Fog potential over the next few days: None expected at this time.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None expected at this time.
