FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UTAH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT
342 AM MDT FRI JUL 29 2016

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 10 PM
MDT SATURDAY FOR DRY THUNDERSTORMS AND GUSTY OUTFLOW WINDS FOR
FIRE WEATHER ZONES 492...493...495...497 AND 498...

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING
THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING FOR DRY THUNDERSTORMS AND GUSTY OUTFLOW
WINDS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 478...479...480...481...482...
483...484...488...AND 489...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...INCREASING MOISTURE WILL RESULT IN INCREASING
COVERAGE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHERN UTAH TODAY
AND ACROSS MUCH OF THE DISTRICT TOMORROW. THE RESULTING LIGHTNING
AND GUSTY OUTFLOW WINDS WILL RESULT IN AREAS OF SEVERE FIRE
WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF THE WEEKEND.

.DISCUSSION...HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE FIRE DISTRICT WILL WEAKEN
THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THIS WILL ALLOW SOME MONSOONAL MOISTURE TO BE
DRAWN NORTHWARD INTO SOUTHERN UTAH TODAY...CAUSING THE DEVELOPMENT
OF SOME HIGH-BASED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS BY THIS AFTERNOON.
LIGHTNING AND GUSTY OUTFLOW WINDS ARE POSSIBLE WITH ANY CONVECTION
THAT DEVELOPS...AND THIS WILL COMBINE WITH CRITICALLY DRY FUELS TO
RESULT IN SEVERE FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE MOISTURE SPREADS
NORTHWARD INTO MOST OF THE REST OF THE FIRE DISTRICT
TOMORROW...RESULTING IN INCREASED COVERAGE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS AND A LARGER AREA FOR POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS FIRE
WEATHER CONDITIONS. BECAUSE OF THIS THREAT...RED FLAG WARNINGS AND
FIRE WEATHER WATCHES ARE IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF THE DISTRICT.
CONDITIONS WILL REMAIN QUITE WARM ACROSS THE DISTRICT OVER THE
NEXT FEW DAYS...BUT TEMPERATURES WILL DECREASE SOMEWHAT WITH THE
WEAKENING OF THE RIDGE AND INCREASING COVERAGE OF CONVECTION.

***THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY STRONG GUSTY AND ERRATIC WINDS***
***ALL WINDS ARE 20 FOOT...10-MINUTE AVERAGES***
