IN 1987...A SEVERE BLIZZARD ROARED THROUGH THE GREAT
LAKES.GUSTS REACHED AROUND 85 MPH AT JANESVILLE
WISCONSIN.  AROUND 1 FOOT OF WIND WHIPPED SNOW BURIED
CLEVELAND...AND NORTH WINDS OF 50 TO 70 MPH RAISED THE
LEVELS OF SOUTHERN LAKE MICHIGAN AROUND 2
FEET...PRODUCING 12 TO 18 FOOT WAVES THAT CAUSED $7
MILLION DAMAGE TO THE CHICAGO SHORELINE! IT WAS THE WORST
DAMAGE CAUSED BY SHORELINE FLOODING AND EROSION IN THE
HISTORY OF THE WINDY CITY...WHICH TRULY LIVED UP TO ITS
NICKNAME THAT DAY.

IN 1835...A HISTORIC COLD WAVE OVERWHELMED THE SOUTHEAST
AS JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA TUMBLED TO 8 DEGREES WHILE
SAVANNAH GEORGIA PLUNGED TO ZERO.
