...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1938, a violent F4 tornado cut a 45 mile long, 300
yard wide path from North Central Craig County Oklahoma,
across extreme Southeast Labette County, to Northeast
Cherokee County.  The twister destroyed three schools
around Chetopa and caused significant damage in Columbus.
The tornado killed 10, injured 200, and caused around
$600,000 damage.
