Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
324 AM CDT Sun Apr 28 2024

Today:

Clouds were widespread over the state this morning with showers and
embedded thunderstorms beginning to lift back over southern Iowa. A
stalled front was draped across the state with winds over northern
Iowa from the northeast and over southern Iowa from the southeast.
Temperatures were mainly in the 50s.

Showers and thunderstorms will become more scattered over the state
today as low pressure lifts northeastward toward the state. As the
low scoots through this afternoon and evening, a few severe storms
could be possible.

Tonight and beyond:

Much of the showers and storms will have exited the state by Monday
morning offering a drier day across the state. Storm chances will not
be gone long from the forecast returning later Tuesday ahead of an
approaching front with a few stronger storms looking possible. The
active pattern will continue through the middle and latter part of the
week with intervals of storm chances. Temperatures will be above
normal much of the week with highs in the 60s and 70s.
