URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...Impactful Wintry Weather Continues Across Parts of Iowa
Today...

.Although much of central Iowa has changed to rain, heavy, wet
snow continues over portions of northern into northeastern Iowa
where high snowfall rates of 1" or more per hour may persist for
another few hours before precipitation changes to rain. Areas with
these high snow rates have seen travel impacts from reduced
visibilities and quickly snow covered roads with improvements to
road conditions occurring shortly after snow rates decrease. Gusty
winds also continue this afternoon with gusts up to around 35-40
mph.

Precipitation in much of central Iowa has changed from
snow/wintry mix to rain so the Winter Weather Advisory has been
allowed to expire in portions of central Iowa.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Wet snow and mixed precipitation expected. Additional
  snow accumulations of up to 1-2 inches. Winds gusting as high as
  40 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northern into northeastern Iowa.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery or snow covered road conditions,
  including portions of Interstate 35 and Highways 20, 18, and 218.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Periods of 1" or more per hour snow rates
  may lead to reductions in visibility and very difficult travel
  from the wet, heavy snow accumulating on roadways for the next
  few hours before precipitation changes to rain.
