.DISCUSSION...

Isolated showers and storms early today, with more widespread
activity late this afternoon and tonight. Rain and storms taper
off from north to south by Thursday evening. Rainfall amounts
through tomorrow evening range from a tenth of an inch to over
half an inch. Some locations could approach an inch of additional
rainfall with thunderstorms. Precipitation and temperatures in
the 60s to lower 70s keep minimum RH values above 40%. Mixing
heights through early this afternoon may exceed forecast,
depending on how quickly cloud cover filters in and when
showers/storms develop.

Winds vary in direction today with low pressure sliding across the
area. Sustained winds will be around 10-15 mph with gusts 20-25
mph at times. Winds shift more northerly for Thursday.

Warmer temperatures with mostly dry conditions expected to end the
week and into the weekend. Breezy winds prevail Friday. Rain
chances return early to mid next week.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
