RANGELAND FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SIOUX FALLS SD
336 AM CDT MON AUG 29 2016

.DISCUSSION...

ANOTHER WARM AFTERNOON IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION...HOWEVER
WINDS AND HUMIDITY VALUES WILL REMAIN FAVORABLE. THUNDERSTORM
RISKS WILL INCREASE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO TUESDAY
AS A FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE REGION. THE MIDDLE AND END OF THIS
WEEK WILL FEATURE DRY CONDITIONS...COOLER TEMPERATURES...AND LOWER
HUMIDITY VALUES. WE WILL NEED TO BEGIN MONITORING FIRE WEATHER
CONDITIONS BY FRIDAY AS WINDS TURN TO THE SOUTH AND BECOME BREEZY
ONCE AGAIN. RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES MAY BE LOW ENOUGH ON FRIDAY
TO PROVIDE HEIGHTENED FIRE DANGER CONCERNS.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER INDEX WILL REACH THE LOW CATEGORY
THIS AFTERNOON. FAVORABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS OR A HIGH MOISTURE
CONTENT OF GRASSES...AND OTHER DRY ORGANIC MATERIAL ON THE
GROUND...INDICATE THAT THE PROBABILITY OF A FIRE OCCURRENCE IS
LOW. OUTDOOR BURNING UNDER THESE CONDITIONS CAN USUALLY BE
PERFORMED WITH REASONABLE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.

THE OUTLOOK FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON...THE GRASSLAND FIRE DANGER
INDEX WILL REACH THE LOW CATEGORY.
