...NWS Meteorologists Currently Surveying Storm Damage Near
Anderson in Anderson County South Carolina...

The National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg SC
is currently conducting a storm survey for the area near Anderson
in Anderson County South Carolina. The survey is in relation to
the severe thunderstorms that moved through the area on May
8 2024.

The survey team has assessed the damage in the city of Anderson
and so far has found evidence only of straight-line winds of 75
mph. Numerous trees are on houses, with some minor structural
damage attributable to straight-line wind. The survey will
continue toward Belton and Honea Path, and possibly further into
Laurens County.

A final assessment including results of this survey are expected
to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement
by 4 PM EDT. A separate survey is ongoing in the North Carolina
mountains.
