The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northwestern Catawba County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  Southwestern Alexander County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  Southeastern Caldwell County in western North Carolina...
  East central Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 300 PM EDT.

* At 220 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Lenoir, or
  near Cajah`s Mountain, moving southeast at 15 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
           damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Hickory, Lenoir, Longview, Sawmills, Granite Falls, Gamewell,
  Bethlehem, Hudson, Icard, and Cajah`s Mountain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
