...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...
...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING IS CANCELLED...

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to
  9 feet in the surf zone. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to 2
  feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying
  areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

* WHERE...Ocracoke Island.

* WHEN...Until 11 AM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Up to 2 feet of inundation above ground level
  primarily oceanside areas with vulnerable dune structures
  resulting in the possibility of flooding of lots, parks, and
  roads with only isolated road closures expected. NCDOT is
  reporting that NC 12 on the northern end of Ocracoke Island
  remains closed due to ocean overwash and dangerous driving
  conditions. The next high tide is around 9 PM tonight. Dangerous
  swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion
  will also occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to 2 feet of
  inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines
  and tidal waterways. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking
  waves of 10 to 15 feet in the surf zone.

* WHERE...Northern Outer Banks and Hatteras Island.

* WHEN...Until 11 AM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Up to 2 feet of inundation above ground level
  primarily oceanside areas with vulnerable dune structures
  resulting in the possibility of flooding of lots, parks, and
  roads with only isolated road closures expected. Ocean overwash
  reported from Pea Island down through Rodanthe and Buxton with
  this mornings high tide. The next high tide is around 9 PM
  tonight. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
  localized beach erosion.
