AFTER THE ISOLATED MORNING STORMS IN EASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA MOVED OUT
OF THE STATE...IT WAS A BREEZY...DRY...AND WARM MID SEPTEMBER DAY
ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA. THE EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE WAS MOSTLY SUNNY
IN THE AFTERNOON...AND WENT INTO THE EVENING PARTLY CLOUDY. THE
WESTERN HALF OF THE STATE STARTED THE AFTERNOON MOSTLY SUNNY...BUT
BECAME PARTLY SUNNY BY LATE AFTERNOON...AND THEN CONTINUED WITH A
LOT OF MID AND HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS AS EVENING WAS SETTLING IN.

HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA THIS AFTERNOON VARIED FROM MID
70S TO LOW 80S IN MOST OF THE EASTERN HALF OF THE STATE...TO 80S AND
LOW 90S IN THE WESTERN HALF. ONE OF THE COOLEST TOWNS IN THE EAST
WAS MADISON...ONLY MAKING IT TO 73 DEGREES. ONE OF THE WARMEST
LOCATIONS WAS THE RAPID CITY AIRPORT...CLIMBING TO 92 DEGREES. IN
THE BLACK HILLS...FORT MEADE PEAKED AT 87 DEGREES...WHILE CUSTER WAS
CLOSE BEHIND...WITH 86.

AT 8 PM CDT / 7 PM MDT...A PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKY WAS OVER
SOUTH DAKOTA...WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 60S TO LOW 70S EAST...
AND MID TO UPPER 70S WEST. EXTREMES ACROSS THE PRAIRIES ON THE HOUR
RANGED FROM 66 DEGREES AT WATERTOWN...TO 79 AT BOTH PHILIP AND PINE
RIDGE. IN THE BLACK HILLS...CUSTER HAD SLIPPED TO 76. WINDS ACROSS
THE STATE WERE OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST OR SOUTH AT 6 TO 13 MPH...WITH
GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH AT HURON.

A PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY SKY WILL CONTINUE OVERNIGHT...WITH A
SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE NORTHERN AND
SOUTHEAST PARTS OF THE STATE. OTHERWISE...IT WILL BE BREEZY AND
MILD...WITH LOW TEMPERATURES ONLY COOLING INTO THE UPPER 50S AND 60S
ACROSS THE PLAINS. THE BLACK HILLS CAN LOOK FORWARD TO MINIMUMS IN
THE UPPER 40S TO MID 50S.
