SEASONABLY WARM AND HUMID CONDITIONS PREVAILED ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA
FRIDAY AFTERNOON. SKIES WERE MOSTLY CLOUDY OVER THE CENTRAL AND EAST
WITH SOME CLEARING OVER THE NORTHWEST. THE BULK OF THE AFTERNOON SUN
WAS ENJOYED BY RESIDENTS ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST. EARLY AFTERNOON
SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS NEAR AND EAST OF CHAMBERLAIN
MOVED SLOWLY SOUTHEAST AND DISSIPATED.

A NORTH SOUTH TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE ACROSS CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA
SEPARATED A SOUTHERLY BREEZE AT 5 TO 15 MPH ACROSS THE EAST FROM A
NORTHWESTERLY BREEZE AT 5 TO 15 MPH ACROSS THE WEST.

AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE UPPER 70S TO AROUND 80
ACROSS THE EAST AND IN THE 80S WEST. PHILIP WAS THE HOTTEST IN THE
STATE AT 90 DEGREES. IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE BLACK HILLS
CUSTER HIT 80 DEGREES.

AT 8 PM CDT SKIES WERE MOSTLY CLOUDY ACROSS THE EAST AND ALONG THE
MISSOURI RIVER VALLEY...AND MOSTLY SUNNY ACROSS THE WEST. MUCH OF
THE STATE HAD TEMPERATURES FROM THE MID 70S TO AROUND 80 WITH
EXTREMES OF 72 AT BUFFALO TO 84 DEGREES AT PHILIP. WIND SPEEDS WERE
MOSTLY UNDER 10 MPH FAVORING A SOUTH OR SOUTHEAST DIRECTION ACROSS
THE EAST AND A NORTHERLY DIRECTION ACROSS THE WEST.

THIS DATE IN 1937 WAS VERY HOT WITH TEMPERATURES EXCEEDING 100
