A CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVED ACROSS THE STATE LAST NIGHT AND
EARLY THIS MORNING. THESE STORMS BROUGHT SOME HAIL TO PARTS OF
CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA WHERE 1 INCH HAIL WAS REPORTED IN PIERRE DURING
THE EVENING. AFTER MIDNIGHT...THE STORMS MOVED ACROSS SOUTHEAST
SOUTH DAKOTA BRING LOCALIZED HEAVY RAINFALL. WHILE MOST AREAS
ALONG AND SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 90 HAD LESS THAN AN INCH OF RAIN
1.93 INCHES WAS REPORTED SOUTH OF PARKSTON AND 1.67 INCHES WEST OF
ARMOUR.

AT 11 AM CDT...SKIES WERE MOSTLY SUNNY STATEWIDE. TEMPERATURES WERE
MAINLY IN THE 70S...BUT RANGED FROM EXTREMES OF 83 DEGREES AT
ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE TO 68 DEGREES AT MADISON AND YANKTON. WINDS
WERE OUT OF THE SOUTH AT 15 TO 25 MPH FOR THE EASTERN HALF OF THE
STATE...AND OUT OF THE WEST AT 5 TO 10 MPH WEST-RIVER.

ON THIS DATE IN 1931...HOT AIR SPREAD ACROSS THE STATE WITH
MUCH OF THE STATE REACHING OR EXCEEDING 100 DEGREES. THE
WARMEST TEMPERATURES WERE IN WESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA WHERE
BELVIDERE REACHED 105 DEGREES AND FAITH REACHED 102 DEGREES.
IT ALSO REACHED 100 IN NORTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA WHERE ABERDEEN REACHED
101. THE COOLEST TEMPERATURES WERE IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA WITH
SIOUX FALLS REACHING 90 DEGREES.
