A COLD FRONT PASSED THROUGH EASTERN AND SOUTHERN SOUTH DAKOTA MONDAY
AFTERNOON...WITH A LIGHT TO MODERATE SOUTHWEST BREEZE AHEAD OF THE
FRONT BECOMING NORTHERLY WITH GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 30 MPH BEHIND IT.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE SCATTERED ACROSS THE STATE WITH MOST
LOCATIONS RECEIVING LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH. THUNDERSTORMS WERE
MOST CONCENTRATED ACROSS THE FAR NORTHEAST AND ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST
...TO THE NORTH AND EAST OF PINE RIDGE. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES
HEAVIER RAINFALL OF ONE TO TWO PLUS INCHES FROM NORTHWEST SHANNON
COUNTY NEAR RED SHIRT INTO WESTERN AND SOUTHERN BENNETT COUNTY NEAR
MARTIN.

AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER AND MID 80S WERE COMMON
ACROSS THE STATE ALTHOUGH THE BLACK HILLS AND FAR NORTH WERE COOLER
IN THE UPPER 70S TO AROUND 80. HURON...MITCHELL AND PINE RIDGE WERE
THE HOTTEST IN THE STATE WITH 87 DEGREES.

NORTH AND NORTHWEST WINDS BLEW AT 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS IN EXCESS
OF 30 MPH. HIGHEST WIND GUSTS AROUND 40 MPH WERE MEASURED AT BUFFALO
WITH 38 MPH...PHILIP WITH 39 MPH...FAITH WITH 40 MPH AND PINE RIDGE
WITH 41 MPH.

AT 8 PM CDT SKIES HAD BECOME MOSTLY CLEAR WITH LINGERING CLOUDS
ALONG THE NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN BORDERS. TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE
70S WITH EXTREMES OF 70 AT ABERDEEN AND BUFFALO TO 79 DEGREES AT
YANKTON. IN THE BLACK HILLS CUSTER WAS MOSTLY CLEAR AND 69. NORTH
AND NORTHWEST WINDS HAD DECREASED TO 10 TO 20 MPH.

ON THIS DATE IN 2007 PIERRE AND THE RAPID CITY AIRPORT WARMED TO 109
DEGREES...FAITH AND PHILIP 110 DEGREES AND COTTONWOOD 111.
