MOSTLY SUNNY...HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS PREVAILED ACROSS SOUTH
DAKOTA SATURDAY AFTERNOON. AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPED NORTH
OF LUDLOW ON THE NORTH DAKOTA BORDER AROUND 3 PM MDT. THIS STORM
MOVED EAST OVER RALPH DUMPING NICKEL SIZE HAIL NEAR AND A FEW MILES
EAST OF RALPH AROUND 415 PM MDT...AND GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL 10 MILES
EAST OF RALPH SHORTLY BEFORE 5 PM MDT. THE STORM DIMINISHED RAPIDLY
AFTER 530 PM EAST OF PRAIRIE CITY IN CENTRAL PERKINS COUNTY.

HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER AND MID 90S WERE COMMON ACROSS MUCH
OF THE RUSHMORE STATE WITH COOLER MID AND UPPER 80S NEAR THE
MINNESOTA BORDER AND THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE BLACK HILLS. AT 97
DEGREES...KENNEBEC...INTERIOR AND WINNER WERE THE HOTTEST IN THE
STATE.

AFTERNOON WINDS WERE SOUTHERLY AT 5 TO 15 MPH ALTHOUGH A BIT
STRONGER... 10 TO 20 MPH...NEAR THE MINNESOTA BORDER.

AT 8 PM CDT SKIES WERE SUNNY OVER THE EAST AND SOUTHWEST...WHILE
HIGH LEVEL CLOUDS FROM THUNDERSTORMS IN NORTH DAKOTA COVERED MUCH OF
THE WEST. MUCH OF THE STATE HAD TEMPERATURES FROM THE MID 80S TO
AROUND 90 DEGREES WITH EXTREMES OF 80 AT FAITH TO 91 AT THE RAPID
CITY AIRPORT.

ONE OF THE HOTTEST DAYS IN SOUTH DAKOTA HISTORY OCCURRED ON THIS
DATE IN 1936. TEMPERATURES WERE NEAR OR EXCEEDED 110 DEGREES ACROSS
ALL BUT THE NORTHEAST AND BLACK HILLS. HIGH TEMPERATURES FROM AROUND
THE STATE INCLUDE...
