Mount Rainier Recreational Forecast

.SYNOPSIS...A low pressure system will bring snow for the
mountains today. Snow may be heavy at times with convective snow
showers that develop. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible,
particularly this afternoon and evening. Conditions dry out
late Tuesday into early Wednesday before shower chances return for
the remainder of the week.

.IMPACTS...Stormy weather will create difficult backcountry
skiing and mountaineering conditions across much of the alpine
terrain of Mt. Rainier, including the Muir snowfield. Blizzard-
like conditions with strong winds and near zero visibility are
likely. A high level of skill and experience in alpine terrain,
including use of GPS, is recommended for navigation and camping in
these conditions.

.MONDAY...Showers, snow showers and a slight chance of
thunderstorms in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a chance of
showers, snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the
afternoon. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and small
hail. Snow may be heavy at times in the morning. Snow
accumulation near Paradise of 3 to 6 inches. Snow level near
2500 feet.
.MONDAY NIGHT...Showers, snow showers and a chance of
thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely after midnight.
Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and small hail in the
evening. Snow accumulation near Paradise of 1 to 4 inches. Snow
level near 2500 feet.
.TUESDAY...Showers in the morning, then showers, snow showers and
a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some
thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and small hail in the
afternoon. Snow accumulation near Paradise of 1 to 4 inches.
Total snow accumulation near Paradise 5 to 14 inches. Snow level
near 2500 feet.
.TUESDAY NIGHT...Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the
evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Snow level near
3000 feet. Freezing level near 3000 feet after midnight.
.WEDNESDAY...Mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers in the
afternoon. Snow level near 4000 feet in the afternoon. Freezing
level near 3500 feet in the morning.
