...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR CENTRAL OTERO COUNTY
UNTIL 700 PM MDT...

AT 539 PM MDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO
INDICATE THAT FLASH FLOODING WAS OCCURRING IN ALAMOGORDO.   LOCAL
LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS RECEIVED NUMEROUS REPORTS OF STREET FLOODING
OVER MANY AREAS IN TOWN.

  ALAMOGORDO...
  BOLES ACRES...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO
CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF URBAN
DRAINAGE BASINS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER
POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING AREAS.
