FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
535 AM EDT Thu May 9 2024

...High pressure keeps dry weather into Friday...

.DISCUSSION: With weak high pressure building over the U.P.
through tonight, dry weather will persist. RHs are not expected
to meet critical thresholds today with minimum RHs only in the mid
30s to mid 40s. Also, northeast winds will stay fairly light
today with gusts mainly below 15 mph.

Tomorrow brings warmer temperatures with highs in the mid 50s to
mid 60s as well as better mixing. While winds are expected to
remain light again below 15 mph, lower RHs are forecast in the
upper 20s to mid 30s. A clipper system brings shower into Upper
Michigan from the west Friday afternoon, spreading east through
Friday night. There is a slight chance for thunderstorms over the
far west late Friday afternoon into the evening hours. The light
winds and expected precipitation on the way will keep wildfire
concerns low.
