Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
241 PM MDT Sat Jul 30 2016

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY TO 8 PM MDT SUNDAY
for Deerlodge/West Beaverhead...East Beaverhead...

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho: Very warm, dry, and breezy conditions will dominate the
forecast over the next several days as a cold front settles across
the region. Afternoon and evening wind gust of 25-30 mph are
expected for exposed areas and ridge tops, with the strongest
winds on Sunday. Also, little to no precipitation is anticipated
through early next week. Another day of concern is Tuesday with a
stronger dry cold frontal passage.

Montana: Very warm and breezy conditions will dominate the
forecast over the next several days as a cold front settles across
the region. A few high based thunderstorms are possible across
Southwest Montana through this evening but overall it will remain
dry into Monday. The anticipated low Rh coupled with gusty winds
Sunday afternoon and evening, has lead to the fire weather watch
being upgraded to a red flag warning across fire weather zones 110
and 111 (Beaverhead/Deerlodge forests). Critical fire weather
conditions may also occur across eastern portions of fire weather
zone 108 (Lolo National Forest) on Sunday afternoon but to a
lesser extent than expected for zones 110 and 111. Keep in mind
that fire activity concerns are likely across all of western
Montana this weekend, but the strongest winds and lowest Rh will
be in Southwest Montana. Another day of concern is Tuesday with a
stronger dry cold frontal passage.
