FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
234 PM PDT FRI SEP 4 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...COOL AND UNSTABLE LOW PRESSURE REMAINS
OVER THE REGION TODAY...WITH ASSOCIATED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING INTO THIS EVENING...MAINLY OVER
THE COAST RANGE AND CASCADES. SHOWERS TAPER OFF TONIGHT AND
EXPECT DRIER WEATHER ON SATURDAY. ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS
IS EXPECTED SUNDAY AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVES THROUGH.
THEN EXPECT WARMER AND DRIER WEATHER TO DEVELOP NEXT WEEK AS
HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHEAST PACIFIC BUILDS INTO THE
REGION.

.DISCUSSION...A SLOW MOVING UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE IS MOVING
DIRECTLY OVER THE REGION TODAY. THIS IS CONTINUING THE COOL
AND UNSTABLE WEATHER TODAY. NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND SOME ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER THE COAST RANGE AND CASCADES
THIS AFTERNOON...WITH A FEW SHOWERS DRIFTING EAST OF THE COAST
RANGE INTO WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY. EXPECT
SHOWER ACTIVITY TO CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING BEFORE DROPPING
OFF OVERNIGHT AS THE SURFACE TEMPERATURES COOL AND INSTABILITY
DECREASES. THE UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL FINALLY SLIDE EASTWARD
TONIGHT AND SATURDAY...ALLOWING A WEAK UPPER LEVEL SHORTWAVE
RIDGE TO MOVE THROUGH AND BRINGING DRIER WEATHER TO THE REGION.
ANOTHER WEAK UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL ROTATE THROUGH ON
SUNDAY...WITH ANOTHER ROUND OF LIGHT SHOWERS EXPECTED TO
IMPACT SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND FAR NORTHWEST OREGON. THEN
WARMER AND DRIER WEATHER IS ON TAP FOR NEXT WEEK AS HIGH
PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHEAST PACIFIC BUILDS INTO THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST. PYLE
