Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
230 PM PDT Wed Oct 18 2017

...MUCH WETTER TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY...
...940 BRIEFINGS MON-WED-FRI...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A very wet system sags over the region
tonight and Thursday, with heavy rainfall possible over SW
Washington and far NW Oregon. A colder and unsettled air mass
settles over the area Thursday night and Friday. Another very wet
system is expected over the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...A warm front will slide across the forecast area
today. Strong wind can be expected along the South Washington and
North Oregon coast and also the Willapa Hills and North Oregon
Coast. The frontal boundary slowly sags south and east tonight and
Thursday. Heavy rain will be possible over Southwest Washington and
far Northwest Oregon. Rainfall intensity diminishes Thursday
afternoon as the front slowly shifts more east. A cooler but more
unstable air mass settles over the region Thursday night and Friday,
with a threat of thunderstorms for the coastal areas. Longer range
models show another warm-frontal system spreading into the region
Friday night and Saturday, with another round of heavy rain possible
for Southwest Washington and extreme Northwest Oregon. A return to
drier conditions looks to occur early next week.
