Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
907 PM MST Sun Feb 26 2017

...A RED FLAG WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM 11 AM MST TO 6 PM MST
MONDAY FOR GUSTY WINDS...LOW HUMIDITIES AND DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER
ZONES 226 THROUGH 237 WHICH INCLUDES ALL OF THE SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO
PLAINS...

.Discussion...

Dry westerly flow continues across the district except for some
spotty snow showers along the Continental Divide.

On Monday, winds will ramp up across the area becoming stronger
and more widespread than the past 2 days. The combination of
gusty winds, dry fuels and low relative humidities has warranted
the issuance of a Red Flag Warning for all of the southeastern
Colorado plains from 11 AM to 6 PM MST Monday.

Meanwhile, heavy, blowing snow is expected over the Continental
Divide from Monday afternoon into Tuesday evening. A little
of the moisture from this system will extend to the eastern mountains
at times. On Tuesday, the cold front associated with this system
and some snow showers will reach the plains. This should cause the
fire danger to subside for a while. The next big threat for high
fire danger looks to arrive next Sunday, ahead of a new storm system.

Afternoon ventilation rates will generally be good or better across
the district on Monday. On Tuesday, rates will still be good or
better over much of the district but a large part of the plains
will see only poor ventilation.
